WTT Finals Hong Kong: Everything you need to know

Hugo’s last international event in 2025 will be the WTT Finals Hong Kong, from December 10 to 14. The competition concludes the annual calendar of the international table tennis tour, featuring the best players of the season.
COMPETITORS
The WTT Finals singles events feature the top 16 players of the year in each bracket. The qualification criteria only takes into account WTT events, excluding the World Cup, World Championships, and continental events.
The WTT Series Finals Race comprised of the following events:
- Four WTT Grand Smash results, plus;
- Four best WTT Champions results, plus;
- Six best WTT Contender Series results.
Ranked third in the world, Hugo will be the #3 seed at the WTT Finals Hong Kong – check out here the full list of players.
MIXED DOUBLES
Hugo also qualified for the WTT Finals in mixed doubles, alongside Bruna Takahashi. The Brazilian pair secured their first appearance in the tournament with the sixth best campaign in the WTT season.
Only eight pairs will be competing for the title: the seven best of the year in the WTT events plus one invited pair. Check out here the full list of participants.
COMPETITION SYSTEM
In the singles event, the WTT Finals will feature men’s and women’s competitions in a single elimination format, with 16 athletes in each bracket. All matches will be played in a best-of-seven games.
In the mixed doubles event, there will be two groups. In each group, the four pairs will face each other, and the top two will advance to the semifinals. All matches will be played in a best-of-five games.
Hugo and Bruna are in Group 2, alongside Lim Jonghoon/Shin Yubin (South Korea), Sora Matsushima/Miwa Harimoto (Japan), and Álvaro Robles/Maria Xiao (Spain).
WHAT’S AT STAKE
