What almost everyone knows about Hugo
- Hugo is a Brazilian table tennis player, currently #6 in the world ranking.
- Born in Rio de Janeiro, in 1996, Hugo began practicing table tennis at 8.
- At the age of 14, he left his hometown to live in São Caetano do Sul and practice with the Brazilian National Team.
- In 2013, Hugo became the youngest player to ever win a leg of the ITTF World Tour and the first player to win a singles title on the ITTF Junior Circuit and on the ITTF World Tour in the same year.
- In 2014, he made history by winning the Bronze medal at the Youth Olympic Games in China. It was the first medal for Brazilian table tennis in an Olympic competition.
- Hugo is three times Latin American champion and three times Pan American champion.
- Hugo plays for Ochsenhausen in the first division of the Bundesliga. He played for the German team from 2014 to 2021, and returned in 2023.
- Hugo played for five-time European champion Fakel Gazprom Orenburg in the 2021/22 season.
- Hugo signed with four-time national champion Kinoshita Meister Tokyo to play the 2022/23 season of the T-League, the Japanese table tennis league.
- Hugo is a sports fanatic and in his free time he enjoys playing basketball, tennis and watching sports on TV.

What very few people know about Hugo
- At 4, Hugo self-taught to read and write, but what really excited him was to be challenged by his parents to do mental calculations. He concentrated for a few seconds and came up with the answer, which was always correct!
- From 10 to 12 years-old, Hugo participated in regular competitions of volleyball and track and field. He was drafted to the state team.
- Hugo has a collection of over 70 cubes in different shapes and sizes.
- Hugo is a vegetarian.
- Hugo speaks seven languages: Portuguese, English, Spanish, German, Mandarin, French and Italian.
- Hugo knows the capital of every country in the world.
